BASIC TYPES OF GENERATORS

Inverters

Inverter generators run on gasoline and are "usually": lightweight, lower power output, lower run times of 2-3 hours, fairly quiet, often dual 120VAC/12VDC output, and often affordable. They are great for: camping, tailgating, light weight job-site work, portable equipment like pitching machines, smaller appliances, maybe some lighting. They have small fuel tanks and require constant refilling. They have small oil capacity, so they require service often. We do not recommended them for home use, but they are a budget option if you know what you're doing, and don't mind gasoline storage. DUE TO  FUEL STORAGE, WE DO NOT SELL OR SERVICE INVERTERS, SORRY.

Portables

Portable generators run on gasoline and are "usually": fairly heavy for one person, decent output to handle most tasks, manageable for run times of 4-8 hours, loud, output line AC voltage 120/240VAC ("like" residential power), and often affordable. They are great for: construction sites, compatible RV's, larger camping scenarios, larger tools or equipment, possible emergency use for a house or structure, but we're going to discuss this further.

Portable generators have 2 alternator categories, "TSW" and "MSW".

"TSW" means "True Sign Wave" and is often built with a skewed rotor with a good amount of copper windings. Very few portables contain "TSW" technology and quality.

"MSW" means "Modified Sign Wave". This type of alternator is the most common in portable generators. an MSW's alternator takes less copper to produce, and therefore the reason why "most" portables are often a cheaper solution. "MSW" generators put out "dirtier power" (sharp sign wave) and have been known to damage electronics with microchips. That's why these days, a portable is not a very compatible option for your home, too many microchips. Your dishwasher now has a smarter, more sensitive computer, than your old office Commadore 64 from 1983. A portable generator CAN damage it! DUE TO FUEL STORAGE, WE DO NOT SELL OR SERVICE PORTABLES, SORRY.

Air-Cooled

Air-cooled standby generators run on natural gas or propane (dual fuel). They are usually: heavy/permanently installed, made with a wide range of power outputs often equal to a single family residence, designed for run times of days or even months, produced with a sound insulating housing, "TSW" (true sign-wave) technology, and they are "automatically functioning". They add permanent value to your structure, while assuring you won't lose power, and you get to stay safely in your own home, whether you are there or not it's protected. Liquid-Cooled

Liquid-cooled standby generators run on diesel, natural gas, or propane. They are usually: heavy/ permanently installed, made with a wide range of power outputs often equal to a small business or a large family residence, designed for run times of days or even months, produced with a sound insulating housing, "TSW" (true sign-wave) technology, and they are automatically functioning. They add permanent value to your structure, while assuring you won't lose power and you get to stay functioning as you would any given day, whether you are there or not it's protected.
